DIY Mikado Game

Make your own pick-up sticks game!

Hi loves!

New post is finally here! I took some time off finish my masters degree in landscape architecture and now that my graduation is over I am fully back to DIYing.
In this post I am showing you how to create your own mikado game (pick-up sticks game). It is so easy and fun to do it as it is to play it! Perfect for cozy fall nights at home, so let's get started.

You will need:
▪ 41 wooden sticks
acrylic paint (3 colors)
▪ paint brush
▪ clear coat spray (optional)

There are five categories of sticks, each has different value and design so it's easier to differ.

A - Mikado - 1 color
B - Mandarin  - 3 stripes / 2 colors
C - Bonzen - 5 stripes / 2 colors
D - Samurai - 3 stripes / 3 colors
E - Kuli - 2 stripes / 2 colors

The picture below shows the amount of sticks in each category, 41 sticks in total. You can also check game rules on following link.

Use acrylic paint to color the stripes on each stick. Use any colors of your choice but make sure you mark them correclty so you can play the game easily.

Once you have it all painted you can spray the sticks with clear spray to protect paint from damage.
And you are done!

Have fun creating and playing this game! Stay tuned for more easy and fun DIY projects!

With love, Helena
