Decor DIY: Easter branch
Todays post brings you very easy DIY project (that can also be called last-minute) perfect for Easter. I was inspired by Easter Chick Wreaths by Jill from Felt Witch that I have fround through Pinterest and added a little Twist.
It will take You about 15 minutes to make it, supplies can be found in any craft store, but it will also require a little visit to Your local park, forest or even Your own garden depending on what materials You prefer to use and are able to find.
You will need:
▪ branches - I used silver birch (Betula pendula)
▪ thin branches with foliage - I used commom ivy (Hedera helix)
▪ hot glue gun
▪ decorative ribbon of Your choice
▪ wire
▪ scissors
▪ a pack of little toy Easter chickens
(and a couple of bigger ones if available)
▪ any additional decorative pieces (optional)
First thing You will have to do is create the base or hanging branch. Branch I used is approx. 35cm (13.7 inches) long and the ribbon 80cm (32 inches) - You need enough ribbon to make knots at both ends.
Step 1: Place small amount of glue on one end of branch and stick ribbon on it as shown on pictures below.
Repeat the process on the other side of the branch and create the knots when glue is dry.
Step 2: Take a branch of ivy (or any plant you desire), measure it and cut so it fits the first branch. Use glue to secure it in place.
And Your base is done!
Step 3: Take chickens and place them along the branch until You are satisfied with their placement. Stick them on a branch with glue as shown on pictures below and You are ready for step 4.
Step 4: Making the bow. Take second ribbon and cut two pieces 30 cm (approx. 12 inches) long. Cross one side over another creating a loop as on second picture, bring the loop to the crossing, stick them together and secure with thin wire (or string). Repeat the process on second cut and Your bows are ready.
Step 5: Add a bit of glue to the knots of first ribbon and place bows on it. Press until glue dries.
Step 6 (Optional): Take any decorative object of Your choice and glue it in the middle of one or both bows. I used this clay heart, a leftover from previous craft project, on one bow just to make it uneven since bows were on both sides.
And Your Easter branch is done! Fast and easy.
I hope You will love this simple project. Have fun creating Your own with Your family or friends.
Take care and Happy Easter!
♡
With love, Helena
