Accessories DIY: Tassel Keychain

Are you ready for summer? How about your accessories?

Hi loves!

This weather is pulling out all colors from our closets. Shops are filled with colorful clothes and accessories and there are just too many to buy all. This time I have decided to show you how to create your own colorful tassel keychain inspired by beaded keychain from Zara. It is very simple to do and the final product is super adorable and eye-catching. So let's get started!

You will need:
▪ carabiner (smaller)
embroidery thread
▪ all-purpose glue
▪ scissors
▪ any thread of your choice for hanging tassels

Start with wraping thread around the carabiner. We will wrap only the fixed part. Put a little bit of glue at the beginning, stick thread to it and start wrapping  around so metal is invisible. It is up to you to decide if you want to wrap carabiner only in one color, or use more.
If you decide to make it multi-color like I did, wrap first color till one part, use glue again to stick end of thread to carabiner and start with second color at the same place. Repeat the process until you are done and with as many colors as you wish.

At the end your carabiner should looke like the one on the picture below:

Next step is creating tassels. Choose as many colors as you wish, you can also play with lenghts and thickness of tassels. Easy `how to´ steps are shown on the pictures below:

Cut 5 strings of thread 60 cm long (around 23.6 inches), fold them in half, and one more time in half (pictues 1 and 2). Use little bit of  thread to create a knot in the middle of folded threads to secure it in place. Take around 20 cm (8 inches) of thread, twist it around a bundle a few times and tie a knot. With scissors cut the thread at the to separate it and then cut excess thread to make it straight.

When you have created all tassels take additional thread and tie them together with loop. If the top loop of the tassel is to tight to pull thread through, help yourself with a needle. Separate threads in two equal parts, create another loop around carabiner so the tassels can hang (steps shown down below) and you are done!

Your new keychain is complete. How easy was that!

Place your keychain on a bag and turn it from plain to pretty within a second!

Try it out or create your own version, the options are limitless. Enjoy and take a picture with my instagram tag @lime_and_twist

With love, Helena
